Recitals are the highlight of every student's year, regardless of their age! Dance is a performing art and we strongly feel that students should have the opportunity to perform at the end of the season. The recitals are not mandatory, however, we strongly encourage each student to be a part of the performance. Recitals help build self-confidence, increase self-esteem and are a great way for friends and family to see everything our students have accomplished during the season. In order to provide this opportunity, it does take extra commitment from parents and also costs money beyond the monthly tuition rates.
If this is your first recital, you may not understand how exciting and memorable the recital can be for the whole family and not just the dancer. Dancin' Dreams is committed to giving each student a solid dance foundation while making tuition rates affordable and keeping recital costs for each family as low as possible.
Our recitals are held at Aurora Central High School during the month of May. Parents are informed of recital dates in December.
WE ARE HAPPY TO START NEW STUDENTS IN ALL CLASSES AT ANY TIME. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR OUR 2016/2017 SEASON IS JANUARY 9, 2017. Registrations will not be accepted after this date.
Dress rehearsals usually take place the weekend prior to show weekend. Dancers are required to come to dress rehearsal in costume with full hair and makeup. This rehearsal helps students become familiar with the stage and backstage areas as well the flow of the recital. It also provides an opportunity to practice costume changes and get used to dancing in costume. Dress rehearsal is mandatory and all dancers are welcome to sit out in the audience and watch all classes perform their routines. You are welcome to leave dress rehearsal as soon as all of your dances have been rehearsed.
Unlike most studios in town, Dancin' Dreams does not charge performance fees for participation in the recital.
Costumes are a huge part of the recital and do cost extra money. We want each student to have a true sense of performing, which requires the purchase of a costume to wear on stage. Costume orders for our recitals must be ordered by January 9, 2017 in order to receive them in time. Costume orders will be due no later than January 7th from everyone. Instructors will measure students for costumes during their scheduled class time prior to this date.
Dancin' Dreams asks a professional photographer to come and take our recital photos each year. Group photos and individual photos will be available for purchase. You are not required to buy any pictures, however, we do ask that everyone in each group be a part of the group photo so those that are purchasing the photos will have everyone included in the picture.
Ticket sales help pay for production costs and facility rental for our recital. Tickets will be available for purchase about one month prior to the event. Tickets are $14.00 each. Everyone attending the recital is required to purchase a ticket.
Dancin' Dreams asks a professional video company to record our recitals each year. A professional DVD of the entire show will be available for purchase. Order forms will be available prior to the recital and will also be available at the recital. DVD’s run about $30.00 each.
A tradition at Dancin’ Dreams and a huge hit with the audience every year. Dads get to be on stage and dance a choreographed piece with their daughter(s). Participation in this dance is voluntary. Rehearsals for this number will start in January and usually take place on a Saturday or Sunday once or twice a month until the recital. Purchase of an additional costume is required.
